Andrew Smith focuses his practice on civil litigation.  Andrew has extensive experience in all aspects of litigation, handling cases from complex commercial litigations to personal injury cases.  He co-founded the firm Smith + Schwartzstein LLC in 2009 and has successfully represented numerous clients throughout the state of New Jersey and New York, practicing in State and Federal Court, including before the United States Supreme Court.  Andrew focuses on commercial litigation, including construction cases, as well as discrimination/sexual harassment cases and personal injury law.  Andrew represents numerous small businesses as well as individuals.

He particularly enjoys fighting for the rights of individuals and small businesses against larger municipalities and corporations.  He recently obtained a $2 million dollar settlement for a prison inmate who was deprived of medical services while held in custody.  Andrew is bar admitted in New Jersey, New York, the District of New Jersey, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York and the United States Supreme Court.

Andrew received his J.D. from Boston College Law School after graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.A.  After law school he clerked for the Honorable Sybil R. Moses, A.J.S.C., the first women assignment judge in New Jersey, before joining the litigation department of Gibbons P.C.  Before law school, Andrew served as an Artillery Officer in the United States Army, deploying to overseas locations and attaining the rank of Captain.  Andrew enjoys coaching his three children and is active in his community and involved in numerous civil and political activities.

Andrew has lectured for the Practicing Law Institute and the New York Bar Association.  He has been published in the New Jersey Appellate Division as well as in other publications, including Law360 and Metropolitan Corporate Counsel.  His awards and accolades include:
